- Mariposa Sequoias
- The Mariposa Grove, in the southwest corner of Yosemite National Park, was
famous for the Wawona Tree. In 1881, a tunnel was cut through it, a tunnel
big enough to drive through. It became the most photographed tree in history.
This nonsense finally played out during the winter of 1968/69 when the
tree fell.
- When you are among Sequoia Gigantea you are less aware of enormity.
These trees do not grow in isolation, and their harmony with the rest of the
forest creates an awareness that everything is as it should be.
